Das Essen hier ist wirklich sehr lecker. Ich hatte den Burger und meine Frau das Garnelen Saganaki. Das hat uns hervorragend geschmeckt. Die Preise fĂŒr das tolle Essen und auch fĂŒr die GetrĂ€nke sind sehr fair. Die Besitzer haben das Restaurant vor kurzem ĂŒbernommen und das Restaurant verdient eine Neubewertung. Beide sind total freundlich und nett. Wir haben uns mit denen sehr gut unterhalten.

Ein echtes Highlight und absolut empfehlenswert! Was uns ganz besonders aufgefallen ist, ist dass hier alles frisch zubereitet wird und auf QualitĂ€t geachtet wird, und das schmeckt man wirklich bei jedem einzelnen Gericht!! So etwas findet man heutzutage nur noch selten. Die AtmosphĂ€re ist unglaublich angenehm und die Besitzer super herzlich und gastfreundlich! Danke fĂŒr den tollen und unvergesslichen Abend!

Very amazing mezes, perfect and home made. I love the meatballs so much because of their perfect quality. The stuff is very friendly. Its a must Visit when you are in eastern Crete.

Great tavern with new owners. There were two of us here and the food was super good (best Greek salad ever), the owners very friendly, we had a very good feeling. We mainly had vegetarian dishes and they were excellent. If you want a good, modern Greek atmosphere and good food, this is the place for you.

Beste Taverne in Istron - und wir haben einige getestet. Wir nahmen auf Empfehlung den Red Snapper fĂŒr 2 Personen, mit Pommes und gegrilltem GemĂŒse. Herrlich, der beste Fisch seit langem! Sehr guter Hauswein (weiß). Freundliche Bedienung und netter Koch, die auch gute Tipps geben (Taxi, AusflĂŒge). Das Lokal ist insgesamt ansprechend und sauber. Die Taverne wurde heuer neu ĂŒbernommen und sie geben daher ihr bestes.

Definitiv kann ich diesen Ort empfehlen. Es erfolgte ein Betreiberwechsel & dass Essen in der Taverne ist unglaublich Lecker, Oktopus 🐙 - Garnelen oder auch Saganaki einfach perfekt ! Chefs sind außerordentlich gastfreundlich und sehr zuvorkommend. Sprechen Deutsch, Englich & auch Griechisch đŸ‡ŹđŸ‡· Wir haben es sehr hier genossen & haben uns unfassbar wohl gefĂŒhlt! Nadine & Alex macht weiter so 👌 NatĂŒrlich nicht zu vergessen den sehr freundlichen Kellner in eurer Taverne. Good Job & wir kommen wieder👍

Our Story - Two hearts, one passion – and a shared dream.

We, Alex and Nadine, grew up in Frankfurt am Main – our roots couldn’t be more different, yet they complement each other perfectly. Alex’s mother comes from Kalamata in southern Greece; Nadine is German – but from the very start, we were united by our love of Greek culture, cooking, and genuine hospitality.

In 2024, we fell in love on Crete – not only with each other, but also with a special place: the restaurant Meraki. We got married there – and on our wedding day, we decided to make that place our new home. From a moment of the heart came a life decision: we took over Meraki – and have run it ever since with the very same passion that binds us.

Today, we’re living our dream – as a couple, as hosts, and as people who put their whole heart into everything they do.

Alex at the Grill – with fire, skill, and passion.

When Alex fires up the grill, traditional Greek grilling meets modern creativity. With passion and precision, he grills meat to perfection – crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, bursting with flavor.

Inspired by the aromas of Greece and guided by a keen sense of quality, he brings classics like lamb chops, tomahawk steaks, juicy burgers, and freshly grilled fish to your plate – all sourced locally, cooked over an open flame, and rich in Mediterranean character.

He rounds everything off with homemade sauces, from refined barbecue blends to Mediterranean dips, each perfectly matched to meat, fish, and sides. Typical Greek ingredients like olive oil, lemon, fresh herbs, and spices give every bite the authentic taste of our homeland – with a modern twist.

Nadine cooks with heart, soul, and plenty of Meraki.

Her dishes are a tribute to traditional Greek home cooking—honest, aromatic, and prepared with genuine devotion. Whether it’s moussaka, tzatziki, eggplant spread, fasolakia (green beans in tomato sauce), or perfectly balanced mezedes, everything is made with care, traditional spices, and an instinct for authentic flavor.

What Nadine brings to the table is more than just good food. It’s memories, emotions, and joie de vivre—shaped by Greek tradition and open to modern influences. This is how creative interpretations arise that honor the old while welcoming the new.
